Social network Multiply.com has received $5 million in funding from ABS-CBN, one of the Philippines' largest media companies.
Microsoft (NSDQ: MSFT) has launched a new version of its Windows Live service, whatever it was before (search plus its myriad communication services tacked on it), and now it is a full blown social network, with the idea to integrate all the disparate MSFT online services, as well as allow other third-party services to be embedded within in.

Widget and social app firm RockYou is adding $17 million to its already hefty third round. Back in June, the San Mateo, Calif.-company started the round with $35 million led by DCM, with participation from several undisclosed backers.
It's no secret MySpace has become a key part of the promotional machinery behind big Hollywood releases. Now the social network has produced metrics underscoring the leading role it plays connecting studios with young audiences. According to a Nielsen study commissioned by MySpace, the site is the top Web destination for 15- to 24-year-olds looking for information on new movies.
