Gannett (NYSE: GCI) is going live with its local/national web hybrid ContentOne this morning, says Jim Hopkins on his Gannett Blog. The program was introduced by execs speaking at the UBS Media Week conference last month.

—Tanking job market a boon for LinkedIn : While LinkedIn laid off some 10 percent of its staff in November, the financial crisis hasn't been all bad for the business-focused social network, USA Today reports.

Gannett (NYSE: GCI) flagship USA Today is the latest paper to be sold through Amazon's Kindle. The top-selling U.S. paper has yet to show up in the Kindle Store but Amazon (NSDQ: AMZN) told Kindle subscribers on Christmas morning that they'll be able to download the Dec. 26 edition for free.

—Oprah Winfrey Network: Liz Dolan has signed on as CMO for OWN, effective January 2009. Most recently, she headed up marketing at NIKE and in 2001, created talk radio show "Satellite Sisters" with her four sisters. In her new capacity, Dolan will be responsible for all on-air, print, radio and online marketing.

This is USAT's first major round of job cuts since 45 employees were jettisoned last November.
