I've been wanting to riff on the automotive bailout plea for a while. (To get started, here is a good, balanced post by Eric Karjaluoto to stew on.) As an industrial B2B marketing blogger, I think the subject is appropriate to talk about here.

Mitt Romney might want you to let Detroit go bankrupt, but David Pecker doesn't. Earlier this afternoon, the American Media chief sent all of his employees a fact chief supplied by the GM and intended to build support for an auto-industry bailout. MySpace late Thursday night is expected to debut its ad-supported free on-demand streaming music and video service, MySpace Music. With Amazon integrated as its download store, and sharing and discovery tools like shareable playlists, the long awaited service eventually plans to offer consumers a one-stop-shop for artist ring tones, songs, merchandise, and concert tickets. MySpace Music's four premiere launch sponsors include McDonald's, Toyota, State Farm and Sony Pictures.

MySpace's long-awaited music music store is going live tonight at 9:00 PM PT/12:00 AM ET. EMI, the last major holdout among the major labels is now on board, as is major indy The Orchard (NSDQ: ORCD). Because EMI only signed on at the last second, the label's entire catalog will not be available tonight, says SAI's Peter Kafka.  MySpace Music, owned by News Corp.
