Omniture

Web analytics provider Omniture says it is buying parts of site search and optimization firm Mercado's intellectual property and business assets for approximately $6.5 million. The price includes cash and the assumption of the Pleasanton, CA-based software firm's related operating liabilities. Omniture has already been working with Mercado. It says the added technology capabilities its gaining will be aimed at offering more services to ecommerce sites.

Omniture this morning announced a deal to acquire certain assets of Mercado, a leading search and merchandising solution provider, for $6.5 million in cash and the assumption of related liabilities. Omniture said the assets would be used to expand its solutions for site and merchandising, particularly in the retail sector.

The newest version of Omniture's site catalyst is absolutely horrendous for media companies because the new UI is completely catering to retailers. The newest version defaults metrics to "revenue" instead of page views, meaning that every time we want to run a report, we have to jump through hoops to get the data. If I'm a retailer, I love the convenience, but if I'm not, you just killed my productivity. The fact that you can't globally change this preference is mind boggling.
